Filling Vacancies
If the county election commission determines that an official whom it has appointed cannot serve, the commission shall appoint a registered voter of the county to fill the vacancy.
Where Election Officials Can Serve
Election Officials may serve in any precinct of their state house district. Precinct registrars who are registered voters may work in any precinct in the county.
A Voting Precinct’s Political Party Makeup
Not more than two of the Judges at a polling place may be of the same political party, if persons from different political parties are willing to serve. When primaries are held by both political parties on the same day, at least one judge from each political party shall be appointed.
Persons Who Can or Cannot Work in an Election
The following persons are not allowed to serve as election officials:
- Any elected official

- Employees of elected officials
- Candidates in the election
An exception to this rule allows the following people to serve as election officials:
- Notaries
